How many years have you been riding?
I think I have been riding for about 5 years. I believe I started when I was 6, but I'm not completely sure.
Which school horse has taught you the most?
Each and every one of them has taught me a lot, but I think Jason taught me the most. He taught me how to be gentle and tough at the same time, and he also taught me how to make a horse bend and get the right lead!
What do you love most about riding?
I love it when the wind is blowing in my face and I am going fast... it's really cool! I also love it when I know I have improved some how, even if just a little bit, it's a great feeling of accomplishment!
What would you like to accomplish in the next year?
I would like to be able to jump a little bit higher, and not fall off as many times as I did this past year! I would also like to improve on my hands, because I have the infamous "hula hands" and I would like to not have them anymore!
What goal would you like to reach within the next five years?
I would like to be able to go to more shows, because I have only been to one, and I would like to improve on my position, attitude, and riding skills!
I have witnessed Evie on stage, larger than life, in her school performance of Sleeping Beauty. Her role was that of the evil queen and she stole the show! When the riding arena is the stage, Evie's performances are often worthy of an Academy Award. Evie can take a tired school horse veteran, like Sootie, and transform him into the champion show jumper he once was. Or, she can hop onto a lumbering Ferrari and transform him into the high performance sports car he was born to be!
Evie received her excellent early foundation work under the careful tutelage of her first instructor, Corrine. Evie was a consistent once-a-weeker back then and came up through the school ranks one pony at a time. Her hard work over the years paid off and she proved that slow and steady can win the race.
Evie has the opportunity to ride a lot more now that she is a working student. The Pathfinder horses have all benefited from her increased saddle time, but the Pathfinder students she assists have benefited even more. Whether she is helping an adult or child student prepare for their lesson, her friendly and outgoing personality puts them at ease. Evie knows how to turn work into play. She spreads her love and enthusiasm for horses to all she meets.
Let's all just sit back and enjoy the show as we watch Evie achieve her goals!
